Student studying at Baird Point.

The Office of Fellowships and Scholarships provides support to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, as they apply for nationally and internationally competitive fellowships and scholarships.

We support and guide students as they work through the scholarship application process. We assist students to complete all application materials and meet the established deadlines. The application preparation process includes the following in order to assemble a professional application:

Please use this website as a source of information. Information about deadlines and new fellowship postings are listed on the homepage.

Links to the national competitions are provided. Read requirements, deadlines and self-nomination materials carefully. Preparation for these awards takes effort and a considerable amount of time. Typically students should begin the preparation process at least 4 months in advance of the self-nomination deadline.

Each semester workshops are offered through the Life and Learning program. See a complete listing of this semester’s workshops.

During the spring semester, the Office of Fellowships and Scholarships offers four week writing groups for students interested in applying for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program or the Fulbright. Please contact for additional information.

The UB Office of Career Services can provide you with assistance in preparing a resume or CV for the fellowship and scholarship process as well as assistance in writing a personal statement. Before you begin the fellowship and scholarship process it is advisable to update your resume/CV. The fellowship and scholarship resume can be longer than a page. Having an up to date and complete listing of activities, jobs and honors is helpful as you prepare your application.
