The Competitive Advantage

Who wins these prestigious awards? Typically it is someone who is passionate about their “thing.” This could be the research that they are doing, the cause they are committed to, or the study of languages and cultures. These individuals have demonstrated their excellence in multiple ways, including academics (high GPA), research, leadership and commitment to the greater good of society. Most have studied abroad, done internships off of their home campuses and have clear goals for the future.

Winners have had strong faculty mentors who can write in depth not only about their work but also their character and future potential.

Preparing for fellowships and scholarships can be an educational experience in itself. Being able to articulate who they are, where they have been and where they want to go clarifies an applicant’s goals and desires.
